Wipe those rain drops off your sunglasses and kick those galoshes to the curb. It’s time to brighten up, because ‘Sunny’ is back in town this weekend with plenty of FREE happenings under dry skies.
Roots Fest on Adams – Sat, April 24 + Sun, April 25
Join the 40,000 music seekers who flock to this annual festival’s line up of roots music, gypsy jazz, Delta blues, reggae, rockabilly, folk and acoustic on six stage. Bike valet, carnival rides, beer tasting and a special preview of the merchants of the upcoming Adams Avenue farmers market.

Mission Federal Art Walk – Sat, April 24 + Sun, April 25
Art of all shapes, sizes and forms will take over the streets of Little Italy when more than 300 artists showcase their work. Live music and dance performances are also on hand, plus loads of activities for the kids.
Healing Arts Fest – Sat, April 24 + Sun, April 25
The Alternative Healing Network brings a day of yoga, massage, music, drumming, dancing, Qi Gong, meditation, and healthy eating seminars. Held in conjunction with the Roots Festival (read: Two major festivals combined into ONE).
Chicano Park Day – Saturday, April 24
Revel in a part of San Diego’s cultural history at the 40th Chicano Park Day Celebration. You’ll experience traditional music and dance, Aztec indigenous performances, a classic low ride car show, mural workshop, food, arts and crafts.

San Diego Travel Expo April 23-25
Dust off your travel dreams and stock up on the information to make them happen at this travel expo, where you can meet travel experts and destination representatives from all over the world. Also take part in trip giveaways and discounts on tours, resorts, cruises and flights.
Sleepless in San Diego – Saturday, April 24
Support the San Diego Rescue Mission by sleeping outdoors (rain or clear skies) to raise money for the homeless. Costs $25 to participate (just like a walkathon), but you can check out the Saturday expo for FREE and meet local organization, churches and partner agencies that serves San Diego’s homeless. Food, entertainment, games and live music too.
Encinitas Street Fair – Sat, April 24 + Sun, April 25
Weave your way along historic Coast Highway 101 and visit with 450 artists and food booths. Also take advantage of 2-for-1 Coaster tickets, and leave the car at home.
Servapalooza – Sun, April 25
Participate in this annual serve-a-thon in honor of Global Youth Service Day with 50 hands-on volunteer activities, plus plenty of food and entertainment from around the globe.
Student Shakespeare – Sat, April 24
Shakespeare is alive and thriving in San Diego schools. Watch his work come to life as hundreds of K thru 12 students from throughout San Diego County perform 10-minute scenes, sonnets, music or plays on various open-air stages in Balboa Park.
Home Decorating and Remodeling Show – April 23-25
Tired of your living space? Don’t move a thing before checking out San Diego’s largest home remodeling event at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Check out more than 500 exhibits showcasing everything to improve your home and outdoor living space.
