An artwalk that spans two neighborhoods in Uptown? A music fiesta in Solana Beach? Cruising with hot rods in Escondido? While we can’t give you more hours in a day for you to enjoy all this and more, we can definitely hook you up with the rest! Here’s this weekend’s top FREE things to do in San Diego:
This WalletFree Weekend is brought to you by The Kaplan Office with Prudential California Realty
Art Around Adams – Sat, June 6
This music and art walk spans 1.5 miles down Adams Avenue, covering the colorful neighborhoods of Normal Heights and Kensington. Along the way, over 75 businesses will be converted into art galleries and performance spaces, including Lestat’s, Ken Club and Kadan. Trolleys will be on hand to shuttle guests from one end to another. 3-9pm
This two-day music fiesta and street fair in Solana Beach features a packed lineup of live musical performances, arts and crafts, international food booths, and a beer and wine garden (extra fee). They’re going green this year by having the entire event powered by three bio-diesel generators and solar panels. Musical performances include B-side Players, Candye Kane, Hoi Polloi and Aggrolites. 9am to 9pm Saturday and Sunday.
Rock’n’Roll Marathon – Sun, June 6
Check out 26 FREE live performances and cheer on the dedicated marathon runners and walkers as they make their way along the 26.2-mile Rock’n’Roll Marathon route from Balboa Park to Mission Bay. Finish-line concert by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
There Goes the Neighborhood – June 4-6
This multiple-day event in North Park consists of events ranging from poetry readings, silk-screening workshops, bicycle tours of thrift shops, music performances, and film. It’s organized by a group of artists and architectures to initiate a conversation how art and culture impacts the dynamics of a neighborhood. Pay what you can, though there is a suggested minimum donation of $5 for the entire series. 7-11pm on Friday, 10am-10pm Saturday and Sunday.
Every Friday night this summer, check out a living museum of automotive history in downtown Escondido. This nostalgic car show celebrates hot rods, custom, American-made classics, muscle and vintage cars. Businesses stay open late along Grand Avenue; food and music, too. From 5-9pm
Friday Night Liberty – Fri, June 4
This monthly first-Friday evening event features FREE open artist studios, galleries and events through NTC Promenade Arts & Cultural District in Point Loma. Free parking and free admissions.
