The electrifying In the Heights, awarded the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2008, dances  its way into San Diego today and you still have a chance to save big to see this Broadway blockbuster. Playing at the San Diego Civic Theatre,  this high-adrenaline production journeys into one of Manhattan’s most vibrant and tight-knit communities, Washington Heights with a gripping story, incredible dancing and an amazing cast.

If the ticket price is what’s holding you from catching this production, listen closely. The secret to snagging the coveted discounts to any Broadway San Diego show at the Civic or Balboa Theatres is to…. wait.  Arrive an hour and a half before the show to purchase rush tickets for any remaining seats. Tickets can go for as little as half-off, but be prepared to pay in cash. Rush tickets are not guaranteed for every performance, but you can easily call ahead to save yourself the drive. Best times to try are Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and Saturday/Sunday mornings. Insider tip: You have to ASK for these rush tickets when calling to check availability; box office will not mention to you.

In the Heights plays at the San Diego Civic Theatre July 27-August 1.
